Marker Privacy

Your marker is only visible within our 50 km geofence range of your marker location.

City/Sub Operator License

Become a city operator and earn revenue share within your licensed city. Here's how it works:

Earn From User Activity: Once you become a city operator, you earn 95% of the profits whenever someone in your city purchases additional time for their marker, starting at just $5.

Business Listings: When a business owner purchases a 2-year premium map icon plan, 50% of that revenue is rewarded directly to you as the city operator.

Annual License: The city operator license fee covers one full year of operation in your chosen city. Renew annually to maintain your operator status and continue earning.

Trusted Payments: All transactions are processed securely through PayPal. We've been a trusted PayPal partner for over 25 years, ensuring safe and reliable payments for both operators and users.

Comments & Contact System

Each marker has a comment section where you can interact with the listing owner. Here's how it works:

Public Comment Only: When you type a comment and press Enter without providing your email address, your comment will be posted publicly on the marker for everyone to see. This is great for general questions or feedback that others might find helpful.

Comment + Email Contact: When you type a comment and also enter your email address before submitting, your comment still appears publicly, but the marker owner will also receive an email notification containing your message and your contact email. This allows them to respond to you directly and privately, making it perfect for serious inquiries, business discussions, or when you want a personal response.

Privacy Protection: Similar to Craigslist, we use a cloaked relay email system to protect your privacy. When you contact a marker owner, your real email address is never directly exposed. Instead, messages are routed through our secure relay system using shortened, anonymized email addresses. This prevents spam, protects your identity, and gives you control over when and if you want to share your actual contact information.

Tip: If you're interested in a service or product, include your email so the owner can reach out to you with more details!

Display & Screen Size (Windows & macOS)

Many laptop manufacturers and Windows default settings use 125% (or higher) display scaling to make text and UI elements larger and easier to read. For the best experience with MapMy.City—so overlays, tooltips, and controls render correctly—we recommend setting Windows display scaling to 100%.

Why 100%? Higher scaling values may cause UI elements to overlap, misalign, or appear too large for the map layout. Using 100% ensures consistent rendering and prevents layout issues across different displays.

How to change (Windows 10 / 11):

1. Open Settings (press Win + I) → System → Display.
2. Under Scale & layout, set "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" to 100%.
3. If prompted, sign out and sign in again or restart to apply the change.
4. Ensure display resolution is set to the recommended/native value for your screen.

macOS (Monterey / Ventura / Sonoma):

1. Open System Settings (or System Preferences) → Displays.
2. Select the display and use the Resolution setting. Choose Default for display or pick a scaled resolution with More Space to simulate 100% scaling.
3. Close the settings to apply the change; for external displays use the Scaled option and select the native resolution where available.

Browser Zoom: Confirm your browser zoom is at 100% (press Ctrl + 0 to reset). Using browser zoom is fine for readability, but keeping OS scaling at 100% prevents layout problems.

Need larger text? If you still need bigger text or UI elements, use the browser zoom (Ctrl + +) rather than changing OS scaling to preserve MapMy.City’s layout.

Browser Location Settings

MapMy.City can show you either a local view centered on your location or a global view of all markers worldwide. You control which view you see by managing your browser's location permissions.

How to disable location: Click the location/tune icon in your browser's address bar (shown below), then select Block or toggle location permissions off. Refresh the page to see the global map view.

How to enable location: Click the location/tune icon in your browser's address bar, then select Allow or toggle location permissions on. Refresh the page to see markers near your location.

Tip: You can also use the global view toggle button on the map to switch between local and global views without changing browser settings provided your location detection is enabled.

AI Generated Markers

You can view the entire world map populated with AI-generated markers across all operator cities. Populating the map with AI-generated markers serves an important purpose for both developers and users. It allows developers to test and refine the platform's functionality, while giving users a realistic preview of how the service operates. This helps everyone better understand how listings appear, how the map behaves at scale, and how the overall experience should work efficiently before real markers fill the map.
