The Map
All markers, comments, and votes are purged every 24 hours. Full reset – no do-overs. This keeps the map fresh and relevant to what is happening right now in your community.
MapMy.City is for connecting with locals and building stronger communities in real-time. Drop a marker for your service, event, or business – your neighbours can find it, comment on it, and contact you directly.
You can view the entire world map populated with AI-generated markers across all operator cities. This serves two purposes:
For developers – test and refine platform functionality at scale.
For users – preview how listings appear and how the map behaves before real markers fill it.
It gives everyone a realistic feel for how the service operates before genuine community activity takes over.
MapMy.City shows either a local view (centred on your location) or a global view (all markers worldwide) depending on your browser location permission.
To disable location (global view): Click the location icon in your browser address bar → select Block. Refresh the page.
To enable location (local view): Click the location icon → select Allow. Refresh the page.

Tip: You can also use the global view toggle button directly on the map to switch views without browser settings.
Meshtastic
Meshtastic is the off-grid LoRa mesh network layer on MapMy.City. It overlays live Meshtastic node locations, connection links, signal strength, and hops on the map while keeping the regular city marker layer separate.
Learn more: Read the full guide on meshtastic.html.
Open the map and click the Meshtastic toggle button (📡 Nodes). That enables the node network overlay. When you turn it off, the mesh layer disappears and the regular map returns.
Important: Meshtastic node icons are separate from city business markers, so you can use the mesh overlay without mixing it into normal city listings.

Meshtastic shows live, peer-to-peer node activity rather than user-submitted city markers. It is most useful for seeing off-grid connectivity, not for finding businesses. If you want the mesh network rules and setup, follow the Meshtastic page for full details.

Privacy
Absolutely not. We do not harvest personal information of any kind for the purpose of monetization. Your data stays with you. We do not sell, share, or expose your personal information to third parties. Your privacy is our top priority.
Your marker is only visible within our 50 km geofence radius of your marker location. People outside that radius will not see it in their local view. This ensures that your marker is only accessible to those in your immediate community, maintaining privacy and relevance.
Comments & Contact
Each marker has a public comment section. How your comment behaves depends on whether you include an email:
Public comment only – type a comment and press Enter without an email address. Your comment posts publicly. Great for general questions or community feedback.
Comment + private contact – type a comment and enter your email before submitting. Your comment still posts publicly, but the marker owner also receives an email with your message and contact email, allowing a direct private reply. Perfect for serious inquiries or business discussions.

No. Similar to Craigslist, we use a cloaked relay email system to protect your privacy:

- 2Messages are routed through our secure relay using shortened, anonymized addresses.
- 3This prevents spam and protects your identity until you choose to share your actual contact info.
City / Sub-Operator License
City Operator licenses for major metropolitan areas operate on a competitive bidding model, similar to eBay. Major cities like New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, London, Sydney, and other high-demand territories use a transparent bidding system to ensure fair market pricing and give entrepreneurs the opportunity to compete for premium territories.
How the Bidding System Works:
Revenue Sharing for City Operators:
How the Bidding System Works:
1
Browse Cities
View major cities open for bidding. See current bid, population, time remaining, and revenue potential.
2
Place Your Bid
Bid any amount above current bids. Market determines value based on competition and revenue potential.
3
Win Auction
Highest bidder wins and holds territory. You own it until another operator outbids you.
4
Secure Payment
Pay your bid amount via PayPal to activate license immediately.
5
Start Earning
Begin managing city and earning revenue shares on all activity.
6
Defend Territory
Monitor bids from competitors. Outbid to maintain your territory.
Revenue Sharing for City Operators:
95%
of profits when users buy extra marker time ($5-$15 upgrades)
50%
of revenue from Business Listings ($99 for 2 years)
Continuous Competition: Unlike Sub-Operators with guaranteed annual terms, City Operators operate in perpetual competition. You can lose your territory at ANY TIME if another operator places a higher bid. To maintain your city, you must continuously defend against competitors by maintaining a bid high enough to discourage outbidding.
Why Bidding for Major Cities? Larger cities have significantly more markers, business activity, and transaction volume – meaning greater earning potential. The bidding system reflects this demand and allows successful entrepreneurs to invest in the most profitable territories.
Sub-Operator licenses are designed for smaller cities, towns, and regional territories. Instead of competing in an auction, Sub-Operators pay a simple, flat annual license fee – making it easier to enter the market without the unpredictability of bidding wars. This model is ideal for those who want to build a loyal community in a specific area.
What Qualifies as Sub-Operator Territory?
How the Sub-Operator Model Works:
Revenue Sharing for Sub-Operators:
What Qualifies as Sub-Operator Territory?
- •Secondary cities and towns (populations below major metro thresholds)
- •Regional territories spanning multiple smaller towns or districts
- •Rural or remote areas with lower transaction volume but tight-knit communities
- •Micro-territories (neighborhoods, boroughs, or zones within larger cities)
How the Sub-Operator Model Works:
1
Choose Territory
Browse available sub-territories and select one matching your service area or community.
2
Pay Annual Fee
Submit annual license fee ($25–$499/year depending on territory size). No bidding – transparent pricing.
3
Get Approved
We review your application and verify information. Approval typically takes 24–48 hours.
4
Start Operating
Once approved, immediately access your territory dashboard and begin earning revenue.
5
Renew Annually
Pay annual fee again to maintain your territory. Non-renewal opens it to other operators.
6
Grow Community
Build reputation, attract more users, expand marker activity, and increase revenue year-over-year.
Revenue Sharing for Sub-Operators:
95%
of profits when users buy extra marker time ($5–$15 upgrades)
50%
of revenue from Business Listings ($99 for 2 years)
Sub-Operator Advantages: Lower entry barrier, predictable annual cost (no bidding risk), freedom to grow organically at your own pace, and ideal for entrepreneurs who want to build genuine relationships and trust within their specific community without fear of losing their territory to a higher bidder each year.
Real-World Example: You operate a sub-territory (town of 25,000) with a $199 annual fee. Over the year: 40 users buy marker time upgrades averaging $10 each ($400 total revenue) – you earn 95% = $380. Additionally, 5 local businesses purchase Business Listings at $99 each ($495 total) – you earn 50% = $247.50. Total annual earnings: $627.50 (after recovering your $199 fee). Plus continued revenue in year 2 and beyond as your community grows.
The City Operator Back Office Dashboard is your command center for managing your territory, monitoring performance, and maximizing revenue. It provides real-time analytics, moderation tools, and payment management all in one place.

Display & Technical
Many laptops default to 125% or higher display scaling, which can cause overlays, tooltips, and controls to overlap or misalign. For the best experience, set your OS scaling to 100%.
Windows 10 / 11:
macOS (Monterey / Ventura / Sonoma):
Windows 10 / 11:
- Press
Win + I→ System → Display. - Under Scale & layout, set "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" to 100%.
- Sign out and back in (or restart) to apply.
- Ensure your resolution is set to the recommended/native value for your screen.
macOS (Monterey / Ventura / Sonoma):
- Open System Settings → Displays.
- Set Resolution to Default for display, or choose More Space to simulate 100% scaling.
- For external displays use the Scaled option and select the native resolution.
Browser Zoom: Reset with
Ctrl + 0. If you need larger text, use Ctrl + + (browser zoom) instead of OS scaling – this preserves MapMy.City layout.
